Prague, 30 June - Edvard Kožušník (ODS - Civic Democratic Party), the new Eurodeputy, will stick to his pre-election promise. He wants to arrive the first meeting of the European Parliament in Strasbourg on the bicycle. On Thursday he will set out the route 647 km long on his track bike. The thirty eight years old Kožušník, on the seventh place on the ODS candidate list, has divided his "tour" into 13 daily stages.

During his tour Mr. Kožušník wants to popularize a new fifty-two member Eurodeputy fraction of European conservatives and reformists, accommodating all new ODS representatives, and also the Madrid candidature for organization of the summer Olympic Games in 2016. "Because I feel to be the European and, after resignation of Prague, Madrid is the single European City which takes pains to win organization of the Olympiad in seven years,” has clarified Mr. Kožušník.

The Kožušník’s tour will start on 2nd July in the Senate, where he was active as the Director of the Secretariat of the Chairman of the Upper Chamber of the Parliament. It will be commenced two days before start of the three-week Tour de France, which is nearly by 3,000 kilometers longer than the Kožušník’s one. "My tour has rather promotional than sports character, “ has admitted the Eurodeputy. In spite of it, Mr. Kožušník has trained and cycled some 600 kilometers from date when being elected. “My behind is not sore for several days already,” noted Mr. Kožušník.

Mr. Kožušník, who will also be accompanied by a vehicle, wants to describe his tour experience on the internet utilized by him frequently during the election campaign.

Edvard Kožušník
Date of birth: 30. 01. 1971

He is the member of the conservative Czech party (ODS) and, besides the Eurodeputy mandate, he also keeps the think-tank eStat.cz, fighting against excessive bureaucracy and regulation. He is also Chairman of the Czech- Spanish Committee of the Economic Chamber and President of the Beach Tennis Association of the Czech Republic. Mr. Kožušník is married and has two children.
